The 2010 BMW 320d receives an EfficientDynamics package that focuses, as the title describes, fuel efficiency. Built for the European market only, the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics achieves an impressive 68.9 mpg, or 4.1 liter/100km.
Great fuel efficiency, but what about performance?
The 320d still manages to output 163 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque from a 2.0 liter single turbocharged diesel engine. 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 8.2 seconds and the 320d ED is limited to 225 km/h (140 mph).
Same with all the newer models, the aerodynamics of the cars have been improved increasing the fuel efficiency. As we have seen on the new X6 ActiveHybrid, BMW is paying attention to every dynamics details, including newly designed wheels.
The result? A drag co-efficient of 0.26 and a stunning ultra-low emissions figure of just 109 g/km CO2. Even without the hybrid drivetrain, the BMW 320d ED would be a great competitor to the superhyped and trendy Prius.
As mentioned earlier, we will most likely never going to see this wonderful automobile on U.S. soil…..
